Our Chocolate-n-Cheese Labrador

Loaf Love Story
We visited Canon Beach years ago when our Chocolate Labrador, Marty, was an only pup. Our itinerary was filled with places to visit where Marty could be with us, but we went off-task when visiting the Tillamook factory for a tour and some shopping. That night we enjoyed some of our cheese samplings in our room and packed the rest up in the morning to enjoy back home in Tacoma, Washington. On our drive home, we stopped in at the maritime museum in Astoria. While my husband lingered, it only took me about 20 minutes to get through the exhibit after which time I returned to the car to potty Marty and read a book until he was finished. Marty is great in the car and not a single piece of luggage was out of place when I came out, so I was totally confused when I unpacked the remainder of our cheese and we were missing an entire loaf (bright blue wrapper and hard to miss). I questioned my husband and we both swore we'd emptied the few items from the fridge in our hotel room. We were confused and a little sad, but figured we'd been in more of a rush than we recalled. That is, until the next morning when Marty went out into the yard to do her business after breakfast. There, she squatted and produced the bright blue cheese wrapper we'd surely left behind in Canon Beach! We were dumbfounded at her ability to rifle through our belongings without leaving a trace of having done so and consume the in-tact loaf of Tillamook cheese. Smart dog! Thankfully, the wrapper passed without incident - only laughter and relief that the cheese was at least enjoyed by someone, if not us.
