Tillamook Macaroni and Cheese Contest Overview

 


The 5th Tillamook® Macaroni and Cheese Recipe Contest has come to an end. Six finalists competed for the grand prize of up to $6,000 cash and the title of “The Big Cheese” at the Grand Finale Cook-off in Portland, Oregon on October 23, 2009 at Kells Irish Restaurant and Pub.

This year, we saw thousands of recipe submissions featuring ingredients ranging from sage and chutney, to steak and pesto. Finalists from Florida, Georgia, California, Colorado and Oregon qualified to compete in the national Grand Finale Cook-off that took place in Portland, Oregon. The day prior to the Grand Finale Cook-off, the finalists received a personal tour of the Tillamook Cheese Visitor’s Center and a behind-the-scenes look at the cheese-making process (all travel expenses paid for them and a guest).

Our grand finale winner, Ann Jones, of Littleton, Colorado, took home $6,000 cash and title of "The Big Cheese," for her recipe, “Rustic Fried Sage & Chicken Apple Sausage Mac-n-Cheese with Autumn Chutney.” In addition, Jones’ recipe swept the crowd at this year’s grand finale cook-off and she took home $1,000 cash and other prizes for winning the “People’s Choice” award, voting for which took place at the cook-off.
