Tillamook® Announces 2009 Featured Ice Cream Flavors Line-Up
TILLAMOOK® ANNOUNCES 2009 FEATURED ICE CREAM FLAVORS LINE-UP
Consumer Names Flavor in Honor of 100thAnniversary
Tillamook, Ore. – January 30, 2009 – Who says ice cream isn’t good for you? Tillamook County Creamery Association (TCCA) is proud to announce the release of three new limited edition, featured ice cream flavors, Black Walnut, “Sweet Centennial,” and Peppermint Candy.
The current featured flavor in stores now, Tillamook Black Walnut, is a walnut flavored ice cream interspersed with crunchy English and black walnut pieces. Drizzle your scoops with warm caramel or butterscotch sauce for a surprising, sweet delight that is the ultimate treat for every walnut lover.
Tillamook held its first ever ice cream naming contest and asked its loyal fans to come up with a new name for its 100th anniversary ice cream flavor. “Sweet Centennial”, was submitted by Nathan Rytting of Emporia, Kansas, who won a gift basket full of Tillamook goodies for submitting his winning ice cream name and will be highlighted on the Tillamook Fan Club Web site TillamookFan Club.com.
The anniversary ice cream is a rich vanilla ice cream swirled with brownie batter and peanut butter filled chocolate cows. Sweet Centennial will be available in Spring of 2009.
“I liked the chocolate and peanut butter flavors, so I thought, ‘Sweet!’ I also decided there should be something in the name to describe 100 years. Sweet Centennial sounded like an appropriate way to describe Tillamook’s first 100 years,” said Rytting.
Tillamook is proudly bringing back Peppermint Candy as the featured flavor for the holidays, due to its tremendous popularity in past years. It is a creamy peppermint ice cream with rich bits of peppermint candy, and will be available at your local Northwest grocer starting in Fall 2009.
Tillamook ice cream is made from the finest ingredients, including fresh whole milk and cream, making the flavor smooth and rich. Tillamook Black Walnut is available now your local Northwest grocer, while supplies last. Everyday retail price ranges from $2.98 to $6.99.
